Making the lentil soup

Like her sister split pea soup, lentil soup is made from a kind of legumes in India is known collectively as the "dhal." Varieties of lentils in Europe are much less common than those in India, where the dhal porridge is eaten every day. Lentils are low in fat and a good source of protein. In fact, legumes like probably know are some of the healthiest foods available.

If split pea soup or cooked lentil soup is primarily a matter of mood, although confidence I have to say that in my opinion the split pea to be higher and more elegant of the two. Lentil soup is hearty; Split Pea soup could hold its own in luxurious banquet. While lentils themselves are really delicious, have a rich taste metal on them. This does not make them unpleasant, but bringing a touch of mother earth.

Lentils, inter alia, are surely a misnomer. Refers to any of a large number of pulses or cereals you eat from the Near East in India. All varieties of Indian dhal above can be considered as lentils. There are a dozen varieties in Europe, but probably what is found in the store is known simply as "green".

For me, the same principles apply to cooking lentils as they do to split peas. For arrivals I always use onions, carrots and potatoes. You can get away with some garlic lentil soup, but not split pea soup. Ham is the choice of flavours of far, and ham hocks or knuckles pigs are also quite good. Basically anything ' edited ' lends good flavor of lentils, but not so with poultry, unless it is in a form of sausage. Do not overcook lentils (which are more stringent than split peas anyway) as the soup is more enjoyable when lentils retain most of their shape.
